STERNPLATZ
The STERNPLATZ reflects the transformation from a fork in the road to a crossroads, bustling with horse-drawn carriages, in all its tranquillity, then to ever-increasing motor vehicle traffic, regulated with and without traffic lights, with traffic circles and many new experiments. Construction of the town hall tunnel begins in 1971. When it was completed in 1975, traffic was moved from the road junction to underground: STERNPLATZ was born. Since 1973, the pedestrian zone has been located here, which follows the former streets from STERNPLATZ in a star shape. The buildings also changed, often in short periods of time, and in some cases fundamentally altered the image. As a result, Haus Hulda from 1881/82 is the only remaining building. Through its history, STERNPLATZ reflects the development of the city with all its disruptions like no other
