Videography
ENERGY IN TIME thematizes the mechanical evolution of mankind and the enormous energy requirements of industrialization. The work contrasts historical advertising films that glorify industrial progress with documentary footage of environmental damage resulting from industrialization. Her journey through the history of energy supply shows the different narratives and visual worlds in superimpositions and criticizes humanity’s consumption of more energy in the last decades since the Second World War than in the thousands of years before.
ZEINEB KAABI
From Anthropology to Art: The focus of her artistic practice lies in generative imaging processes, with her thematic field centered on the tension between environment and society. She explores how ecosystems and habitats change through society’s use of energy, water, land, raw materials, and ecosystem services.
INTERVIEW
Zeineb Kaabi’s work critically questions patterns of production and consumption and uses archive material to create an ironic dialogue between past and present. She uses light as a medium to convey complex narratives, while she finds sustainable and interactive future perspectives in light art exciting.
