3D Mapping
The Phänomenta Tower is one of the rare membrane structures with a vertical orientation. It consists of a steel framework into which a helix-shaped membrane is clamped like a stocking. In the projections, these static components become a canvas for dynamic animations. Julian Hölscher translates the architectural tension into a flowing color system that oscillates on the rods. The tensioned fabric becomes a canvas for abstract color and shape formations in continuous transformation, forming the visual equivalent of Foucault’s pendulum inside the tower, which demonstrates the dynamic interplay of gravity and the earth’s rotation.
JULIAN HÖLSCHER
From graphic design to 3d projection mapping: Julian Hölscher develops site- and theme-specific concepts for places and companies. His architectural projections are always based on the interplay of found architecture, the digital equivalent and contextual narratives. He develops audiovisual compositions in which analog reality merges with the digital image.
INTERVIEW
A light power station as an art installation – in LICHTROUTEN, Julian Hölscher explores the energy of light and its physical and aesthetic properties. His work combines architecture, perception and science to create a fascinating audiovisual experience. In this interview, he talks about his creative process, the challenge of investigating light as a material and why the architecture on site has a decisive influence on his work.
