The company was initially called Insta Elektro Gmbh & Co KG.
Insta develops and produces at the Lüdenscheid site
Insta systems and products:
KNX: Insta is a founding member of the KNX Association, the world’s leading bus system for building control technology. A wide range of actuators, sensors and system devices are offered for the KNX standard
DALI: Insta is a founding member of the DiiA (former name: AG DALI) and offers DALI control devices and a gateway to KNX
Radio-based smart home systems: Insta develops and produces smart home actuators and sensors for or using the radio standards matter, ZigBee, Bluetooth, KNX-RF, initially also a proprietary unidirectional 433 MHz system.
Non-networked building technology devices: Insta has been developing and producing dimmers, electronic switches, presence and motion detectors, blind controls, switching power supplies and more for decades.
Designs: A high level of expertise is available for flush-mounted designs (installation in switch boxes), in-line installation devices and built-in devices. The majority of devices are VDE-certified.
Buildings: The Hohe Steinert production site was built in 2002 with an area of 7,000 square metres on three levels. In 2010, the new development and administration centre was opened with 1,200 m² on five levels, providing space for 120 employees. The former headquarters at Wefelshohler Strasse 35 was sold to Phoenix Feinbau, and much later the former development building at Talstrasse 104 was also sold. 2014 saw the opening of the high-bay warehouse with 27,540 square metres of space for 2,500 pallet spaces and 27,500 container spaces.
History: In addition to developing dimmers, Insta began producing double sockets and Perilex connectors in the 1970s, also in order to build up manufacturing expertise at the same time as development know-how. In addition to dimmers for electrical installations, dimmers and control units for the lighting industry were also offered. IR-based control units were replaced by wireless systems at the end of the 1990s. Insta was the first German supplier of electronic transformers for low-voltage halogen lamps, a successful product range for many years. In the 90s, Insta focussed on LEDs for lighting purposes. The later independent LED lighting division (exterior, architectural, interior and shop lighting) was completely hived off under instalighting.de.
