CITY LIBRARY
The public library in Lüdenscheid, or rather its predecessor, the ‘Volksbibliothek der Stadt Lüdenscheid’, was opened on 10 May 1857 and was one of the older libraries in Germany with this name and the aim of being open to all sections of the population. Novels, specialised literature, children’s books – reading enthusiasts get their money’s worth in the Lüdenscheid public library. However, the media stock goes far beyond books. Visitors can also find games, DVDs, CDs, audio books, sheet music and colouring pictures here. Pictures can even be borrowed from the Artothek so that anyone interested can decorate their walls at home with new works of art. However, the library is not only defined by its media collection. It also organises various events for young and old. The regular picture book cinemas for children, book flea markets and the repair café have become firmly established.
