DIAL GmbH, founded in 1989 as Deutsches Institut für Angewandte Lichttechnik, is a leading company in the field of lighting design and building automation with headquarters in Lüdenscheid city centre, next to the tax office on Bahnhofsallee.

Supporting organisation

The supporting organisation DIAL e.V. is an association of modern and active companies and internationally operating market leaders in the fields of lighting and smart building. The aim is to sensitise the market to better lighting and the sensible use of modern building technology. Members of this association include the companies ERCO, INSTA, BEGA, Berker, Busch-Jaeger, GIRA, Jung, Trilux, etc
For over three decades, DIAL has been developing innovative solutions that simplify and optimise lighting planning and technology.
DIAL divisions:

DIALux evo: DIAL has been developing the world’s leading lighting design software DIALux evo since 1994. This free software is available in 26 languages and is used by over 750,000 professional users to plan, calculate and visualise light. DIALux evo supports products from around 450 well-known luminaire manufacturers.

DIALacademy: The DIAL Academy offers further training on topics such as lighting design, lighting technology and building automation. The programme includes seminars, online courses and certifications, which are available both on site in Lüdenscheid and online.

Lighting laboratory: In its own photometric lighting laboratory, DIAL measures luminaires and lamps, confirms their light output and determines all relevant photometric parameters. Customised services and express measurements are also offered.

DIALux Business: The business model brings lighting designers and luminaire manufacturers closer together by offering luminaire manufacturers a platform to integrate their products into DIALux evo. This increases the visibility of the brand and optimises target group-oriented marketing.

DIAL corporate philosophy

With DIALux, DIAL pursues the goal of simplifying and improving lighting design through high-quality software solutions and practice-orientated training. DIAL emphasises practical training ( Academy ), which does not require traditional presentations and instead offers live demos and a high proportion of practical experience.

Locations

In addition to its headquarters in Lüdenscheid, DIAL has branches in Italy, the USA and Taiwan. The team currently consists of more than 90 permanent employees. The headquarters is an energy-efficient new building. The building is fully automated, and the architecture and overall technical concept are designed in-house. The office lighting is designed to adapt to people’s biological circadian rhythms, in line with the Human Centric Lighting concept.
